Chris Campbell, owner of two Right at Home locations in Philadelphia, hadn’t worked in the Senior Care Industry before coming to Right at Home. Yet his passion for providing quality care for seniors in need was sparked at an early age by appreciating his own grandmother’s in home care. After a ten year career in pharmaceutical sales and managing various projects as well as people, Chris knew his skill set would help him transition to a career that shaped his true passion, helping others.
What did you do before you were with Right At Home?
I spent ten years in pharmaceutical sales. During that time I gained a lot of customer service and project management experience. This experience actually gave me a true comfort in my initial time period at Right At Home.
When choosing a franchise, what were the criteria you used to make your decision?
I knew I wanted to affiliate with a franchise that had an established relationship with the community, but what really stood out to me was that Right At Home did their due diligence learning about me, just like I did about them. I knew I was a good franchisee candidate based on having the required capital, education, management experience, and passion, yet I wanted to take my time and not be sold too easily. I wanted a brand that I could be proud of and really respect. With my wife being an RN, she helped with the process. Interestingly enough, I went on a Boy Scout outing with my son and Joe Bakey, another Philly Right at Home franchisee. It rained for hours, so during that time we got to talking. It was when I sat back for hours in a casual conversation, listening to a current franchisee talk about his success and happiness that I decided to solidify my decision.
Why did you decide to seek a career in Elder Care?
When I was a teenager, my grandmother received in home care. I saw first-hand the good that came from it. My grandmother’s caregiver was able to incorporate my grandmother into our family dynamic in a way that was comfortable to her, and she also explained to us the various conditions associated with the aging process. It had such a positive impact on me and the entire family.
