Susan Malafronte, Director and Owner of Right at Home in New Haven County, has been a Connecticut resident all her life. Susan spent 25 years working in the Investment Consulting industry, specifically in back office and operations management. She had a growing desire for a change in her career which led down the path of business ownership.

This desire prompted Susan to reach out to a franchise consultant and through their direction and help she performed due diligence on several different businesses. In home care and assistance was not new to Susan as she is a second generation home care provider. A strong desire to make a difference in the lives of others as well as knowledge of the home care industry allowed Susan to quickly make a decision to move forward with Right at Home.

Why did you decide to open a franchise with Right at Home?

Very early on in my relationship with Right at Home I could tell the organization had character and integrity within the leadership structure which filters throughout the entire organization. This was evident from the initial sales phase to seeing investments made in corporate staffing and throughout the entire system from the training and ongoing support each franchisee receives.

What makes your business different?

Our business is about people. It’s first and foremost about the individuals we care for and serve and it’s about the quality of care provided. That said it is our commitment to the community to provide this service with excellence through the way we hire, educate / train and supervise our employees. We take an active and hands-on approach to every client we serve. Our hiring process is very detailed and thorough. Caregivers are fully screened using a three step process, insured and bonded before everstepping into a client’s home.

How do you connect with the local community through your business?

I believe in community involvement and taking an active role in giving back to others. I have done this through my teaching of a personal growth program through a Community Resource Center for the last 15 years. This involvement has produced much personal joy as I see it has helped many in what is the most important thing we do in life, relationships.

What are your expansion plans?

My expansion plans are to continue building and growing my staff of compassionate and trustworthy caregivers and to providing jobs for those who meet that criteria.

What are your hobbies or passions?
I enjoy spending time with family and friends, going out to dinner and cooking Italian food.
