Q: Where did you grow up?

A:  My wife and I are from South Eastern Pennsylvania. We grew up in Delaware County, PA. My wife and I have lived in Lititz for the past 15 years.

Q: What was your career before franchising?

A: I worked in the health insurance industry for 30 years; Sandy spent 27 years in health care as a RN.

Q: How did you learn about Right at home?

A:  We learned about Right at Home through a franchising consultant from Boise, Idaho.  After our initial online research, we were able to work with our consultant and speak to numerous Right at Home owners from our area. After several conversations we knew this was a perfect fit for us.

Q: Why did you decide to open your own business?

A: My wife and I feel a true calling to help people and we knew opening a business together that we were passionate about was the right choice. My wife Sandy has been a registered nurse for 27 years, the last 3 as a visiting nurse for a health care system in the Lancaster area. Her experience as nurse combined with my experience on the health insurance side helped us make the decision to open Right a Home in our community.

Q: What was most appealing to you about joining a franchise system as opposed to starting your own business?

A:  A franchise system provides immense support every step of the way. They help with the initial site research, administrative tasks and training, all of which has been crucial for us to move forward smoothly and quickly.

Q: With regard to your previous experience, what skills do you feel helped you in your business?

A:  Sandy’s experience as an RN is going to be a great help for our clients to make them feel comfortable and safe. My background working in the insurance industry will help on the marketing and business end. I am comfortable working with Medicaid waivers and a variety of insurance packages to help make things easier for clients.

Q: What are your hobbies? What do you like to do for fun? What activities do you enjoy on weekends?

A:  We enjoy spending time with our family and several outdoor activities. We love boating, fishing, going to the beach and ice hockey.

Q: What did you find most appealing about senior home care industry?

A: First and foremost, we enjoy helping seniors or any disabled adult who might need help maintaining their independence.  We think the service we offer is important and it is something we have been passionate about for most of our lives. It is a weight lifted for someone that age to have some assistance with daily activities that have become difficult over time.

Q: What are some of your achievements (professionally or personally) that you think will help you along the way in your business?

A:  I could write a book full of the wonderful life experiences Sandy and I have had to help get us where we are today. The bottom line is we are passionate about the health care industry and have the experience to run a successful business.
