Benefits and Challenges in Franchising

Join us for a conversation with Jen Chaney, Vice President of Franchise Development at Right at Home, as we discuss the benefits and challenges in franchising and how Right at Home supports you through your journey of business ownership.

Chaney has been in franchise development for about ten years. She discusses what challenges and benefits a franchise owner is going to encounter and how Right at Home is there to help them. The following is a summary of the discussion:

  • Initial Investment – Right at Home has a relatively low initial investment
  • Limited Creativity – When you purchase a Right at Home franchise, you know the brand standards, i.e., colors, logo. The marketing materials are all in place for you. However, Right at Home values the franchisees and their feedback.
  • Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) – Every franchise has a Franchise Disclosure Document that is out in the public domain. People can find out about your business. As a franchise owner, you are also required to share financial information with the franchisor.
  • Less Control – Right at Home has a business model put in place for franchise owners. There is a specific list of services you provide under the business model.
  • Protected Territories – At Right at Home, you purchase a territory or a specific geographical location and provide services to people who live in your territory.
  • Training and Support – The biggest benefit from Right at Home is its training and support provided to their franchise owners. Online marketing specialists, coaching, strategic partnership and national accounts are just a few of the items provided under this benefit.
  • Buying Power – Right at Home is a global brand, and there are a lot of national accounts that are already in place for franchise owners.
  • Trade Name – The name, logo and style is already in place, along with national advertising in place.
  • Capital – If you are looking for financing to help you open the business, Right at Home is a credible franchise, being in business over 25 years. Chances are much greater at getting financing because you are connected to a credible franchisor.
  • Business Model – In-home care and assistance for seniors and adults with disabilities is a sector that grew through the global pandemic. People are aging and the senior population is going to be substantially higher over the course of the next 10 to 15 years.
  • No Experience Required – Right at Home provides the training and ongoing support needed as you open your business and for years to come.
  • Right Fit – When you inquire with Right at Home, we want to make sure that it’s a right fit for you and for us, as well. Franchising isn’t for everybody, but if you want to be part of something that is bigger than yourself, Right at Home has the procedures and process in place so you can be successful.
