Caregiver Recruitment and Retention

In this webinar, Stacey Buechler, Director of Employee Experience with Right at Home, discusses how Right at Home corporate teams support the franchisee’s caregiver recruitment and retention efforts with RightStart Training and coaches.

RightStart training covers an immense amounts of subject matter on recruitment or attracting the caregiver. For example, making sure the franchisee has a hiring process in place and an applicant tracking system implemented to efficiently manage the applicant pool and source candidates. Templates and other tools are also provided in our training, via Right at Home’s hub.

The following additional subject matter was covered in the webinar:

  • Right at Home helps trains you in the interview process, and in what characteristics to look for in a caregiver. They will train you in what to do in the front end of the hiring process so you don’t have applicants fall out either before the interview or at orientation time.
  • We serve new owners with Orientation materials, such as templates for sample schedules, agendas, and presentations so they can be established with the applicant from the beginning.
  • Right at Home will also provide additional options to your online recruitment strategy, i.e., forming partnerships with local nursing schools, CNA schools, universities, faith-based organizations or other places you would want to source caregivers. Right at Home has a very large demographic sourcing tool to let you know who is in your local market and where to reach them.
  • The RightStart team and your Business Performance Coach will work closely with you on creating timelines for recruitment, opening, etc. to get you up and running. Suggested timeline is four weeks prior to opening, In RightStart training, our team will walk you through the in’s and out’s of scheduling shifts to caregivers.
  • Some hiring platforms do charge a fee, however, it depends on which platform you select. The corporate team highly recommends using an applicant tracking system which Corporate has invested in through 2023, so there currently is a free option. Corporate has also negotiated deep discounts with other applicants. Details for all the platforms are covered in detail in training.
  • Hiring office staff is mission critical to your business as they help build your office culture and deal directly with the caregivers with your help. However, hiring caregivers is equally important.
  • Your RightStart coach will help walk you through all the hiring scenario’s and provide you with options to keep your caregivers engaged until you get your first clients.
  • Caregiver Orientation is an introduction to various topics, policies, procedures, how to do the job, and includes initial training, etc. Orientation should be paid. Your RightStart Coach will cover this with you, based on which state you’re located in, licensure, length of training, topics, etc.
  • Caregivers typically stay with the franchise, but it depends on you, the experience provided and the experience your office staff provides.
  • Companion care licensure depends on the state and local governing rules. Personal may require either an HHA, PCA or CNA.
  • Through the Brand Funds, Right at Home use Pay per Click for recruitment and acquisition.  Stacey reviews the various options available.
  • Right at Home corporate provides you with brand standards  when you are looking to schedule a recruitment event or strategy.
  • Based on unemployment claims and local unemployment, the employment pool is definitely increasing. Stacy discusses the effectiveness of hiring and retention bonuses.
