Deciding to Explore Franchise Opportunities

Ted wanted to pursue an entrepreneurial life and had not previously considered a franchise. After networking with some folks, he discovered how powerful the right franchise system could be in establishing and scaling a business.

The Research

Pease started his research looking for a business model that served others.  He wanted to invest in a business model that served others.  He asked franchise owners in the system which key metrics they track, the path to growth and success, and the things they wish they had known when they first started. Right at Home’s corporate team helped answer Ted’s questions about the key differentiators of their franchise opportunity over others, their primary support focuses, growth strategy, and the conflict resolution process.

Ted’s Story

The skills and experiences Ted had received in the military, such as his learning agility, tenacity, emotional intelligence, project management, and leadership skills, served him well.  His biggest challenges included understanding a brand new business, brand new systems, and a large market to tackle. He wasn’t able to get hands-on with any of his main systems, so it was a massive learning curve.  He also replaced two owners/operators with one staff member, so the process of learning together was tough, but they did it.

Right at Home provided tons of material to make Ted’s transition into ownership easier.  They have full-time business coaches to help you work through any of your key business concerns or issues. They also provide facilitated performance groups with other owners to really grow your business.

Ted said, “I am most proud of my team and the extent to which we’ve been able to grow the care we provide for others in the area. I’ve also loved helping Veterans and their families unlock their VA benefits and seeing how much relief that provides our prior service members.

Advice

He added that prospective franchise owners should make sure the franchise or business they’re buying matches their values and skill sets. If there is misalignment, every other piece of the business will be much harder.
