Asher Fink and Naomi Cotrone

With a background in working with disabled adults and senior citizens and a genuine love for helping others, Naomi Cotrone has introduced Right at Home to Rhode Island to make a positive impact in the local community.

Born and raised in Warwick, R.I., Naomi recognized early in life that her passion was providing the highest possible quality of care and service to her community. After acquiring a degree in hotel management from Bay Path College, she began her career at the local branch of a large international hotel chain, learning to manage effective service delivery.

While working at the hotel, Naomi’s grandmother broke her hip and started receiving in-home care. Naomi immediately noticed that the care was not up to par, so she chose to personally deliver the necessary care she felt her grandmother was entitled to.

Naomi became interested in working with young adults with disabilities, so she became a job coach to help provide them with safe and supervised opportunities within a work environment. Within the same year, her grandmother passed away, making her realize she wanted to provide better care for seniors within her community, as well. Naomi saw an opportunity to provide companion care to both the elderly and adults with disabilities, and to get them out in the community, bring them to church, or even provide assistance as a job coach.

Naomi soon decided to start her own in-home care business where her responsibilities ranged from companion care to skilled nursing. After eight years, Naomi felt that she could expand her services and community reach by joining an in-home care franchise, so she partnered with her brother, Asher Fink. After conducting multiple interviews with in-home care franchisors, Naomi knew that Right at Home was a great fit and decided to bring the first location to the state.

Naomi’s experience and passion, combined with Right at Home’s proven system, will ensure members of the community have access to the care they need.

How did you find out about Right at Home?
After I realized I needed help scaling my business to reach the number of people I wanted to, I went to my brother and we conducted interviews over a couple of months with many different franchisors with in-home care franchise opportunities. We came across Right at Home online, and all the other franchises were about the money that can be made, but for us, it’s about the compassion and the impact we can make on a larger community.

Why did you choose an opportunity with Right at Home?
When we spoke with Right at Home, we talked to Tom King, and for the first 10 minutes, we talked about me and my brother. We talked about our families, what was the reason behind the phone call, and it was a personal discussion. That initial phone call is what made us want to continue the journey with Right at Home. We talked to them for two months before deciding this was the right company that we wanted to work with.

What personal experience do you have in your own family with caring for a senior?
Caring for my grandmother and my aunt initiated my desire to get into the senior care industry. Having started my own business of in-home care, I knew what it was going to take to reach a larger platform. I had the experience; I just needed the proper resources to grow.

Please list any nonprofit organizations, community groups, volunteer activities, etc. you are/have been involved with:
We are in the process of establishing relationships with the Parkinson’s Association, Alzheimer’s Association, and Muscular Dystrophy Association. We want to do whatever we can to work with and contribute to the community, including getting involved with many walks this year to support the causes mentioned. My brother is also an Army veteran, so we’re actively looking for ways to give back to our veteran community.
