Thanks to Ed Wilson’s vision, there are plenty of people in the St. Louis metropolitan area who can rest easy, “Right at Home.”

Wilson, who spent 15 years in commercial real estate and finance, works with Right at Home, a company founded in Omaha, Neb., in 1995 that provides compassionate in-home care for seniors and adults with disabilities.

“The most important factor was having a positive impact on individual lives,” Wilson said. “I came from a corporate finance background, which I enjoyed and where I built great relationships, but I felt something was missing. I always wanted to be a small business owner, and while I never thought I would go into home care, it checked many boxes for me, especially being relationship-driven. Above all, the biggest thing I wanted was to make an impact on individual lives and my local community.”

Right at Home has grown locally to serve three coverage areas. Those areas are St. Charles, central St. Louis and South County.

Wilson said that he is proud to be creating a culture of trust, compassion, and excellence that allows older adults to age comfortably in their own homes.

“Our mission is to provide compassionate, personalized home care that enhances quality of life, promotes independence, and brings peace of mind to families,” Wilson said. “We are dedicated to treating every client with dignity, respect and kindness. For us, this mission is about creating an environment where people feel valued, supported and understood. Everything we do is rooted in that sense of care and humanity.”

Wilson said that the company, which employs roughly 100 people who work as caregivers, nurses, or office staff, serves its clients in a variety of ways.

In-home personnel provide non-medical home care to assist clients with daily living activities.

This includes light housekeeping, meal preparation, and personal care such as daily hygiene and showering. In addition to individual and household care, the business aims to provide companionship. Simply being present with clients, building relationships, and offering the kind of day-to-day support that allows them to feel comfortable and confident living at home are what Wilson said he feels sets the company apart.

“While our team members may come from different backgrounds with different specialties, they all have a strong focus on providing excellent in-home care using the unique skills they bring to the job,” Wilson said.

The business was recently honored with the 2025 Best of Home Care® Leader in Experience, Provider of Choice, and Employer of Choice awards.

The 2025 Best of Home Care® awards are based on third-party interviews with clients and caregivers.

“These awards reflect our unwavering commitment to our clients, caregivers, and care team,” Wilson said.

He added that the company aims to expand even further throughout the area to help more people.

“Our goal is to be the best-in-class home care agency in the St. Louis area,” Wilson said. “One area we want to expand in is the VA (Veterans Affairs) space and helping veterans, which is especially important to me because of the close work I do with them. That will be a particular area of focus for us in the coming year, along with strengthening our internal foundation by building consistent systems and processes, and creating a positive, supportive culture for everyone involved in the business.”
