Executive Update with Right at Home – Margaret Haynes CEO

Duration: 30m 02s

Description:

Margaret Haynes, President & CEO, and Jen Chaney, VP of Franchise Development, discuss the growth of the brand, along with the many ways the company continues to evolve and be considered the employer of choice in the in-home care industry, as well as provide an exceptional client experience. Margaret talks about the approval process for becoming a Right at Home franchisee, and the steps to ensure a good fit between the franchise and the potential franchisee.

State of the Union

Margaret notes that leadership is just finishing up their mid-year review. From a brand perspective, all key indicators are going in the right direction. There has been growth in hours, announcing that the company had hit a milestone of the most hours in a single week in the history of Right at Home. She indicates this may be because there is so much demand with the aging population and the value families see in the services Right at Home provides. Margaret states that the industry is on the cusp of so much demand.

The Vision for the Next 3-5 Years

The future is constantly changing. A core element of Right at Home’s ability to provide services are the caregivers. Right at Home is continually looking and thinking about how we can continue to be the employer of choice, what things we can do in the local market, how can we improve the support, training, and education we provide our local franchisees. We do realize there is concern about the quantity of caregivers available in the future, so that is why we need to be the employer of choice. We also are working on where technology comes into play with caregiving. The great news is that our consumers are becoming much more tech-savvy. Right at Home is trying different tech solutions that can support the caregiver and provide peace of mind. We are focusing on using AI and technology responsibly and professionally. Over the next three years, Margaret sees AI being used to drive efficiency in core operations, perhaps in scheduling matchups between clients and caregivers. She believes it will make everyone more efficient and profitable at the end of the day.

Maintaining Quality Care Across All Franchise Locations

Margaret states that It all starts with identifying the right individuals to join the brand. Right at Home is not just looking to sell a franchise. It’s about getting people with the right passion for the industry. We believe that person can be successful and then provide foundational training so everyone has the same standard policies and procedures. We also help some offices with state licensure, and other offices that need to get an accrediting body to review their offices We support our local franchises with a framework that supports each office in their journey. We want to help elevate and support a quality experience across the Right at Home brand.

Franchisee Approval

Once you start the education and approval process, it could take anywhere from 2 – 6 weeks, ultimately leading to Discovery Day. On Discovery Day, you find out if you have been approved to become a franchise owner. We want our franchisees to be the right fit for Right at Home, and Right at Home to be the right fit for you and your family.

Technology Examples

Margaret notes they are testing sensor monitors in the home and they can watch movement, as well as wearable monitors. Right at Home is also testing caregiver software that can be used to help them feel supported and connected.

Differentiators from Major Competitors

Margaret notes it’s not the things we do, but it is how we do it. The way we train our owners and the way we create a collaborative environment. It’s also the culture. We are very focused on creating micro-experiences by breaking down the process to be as streamlined and meaningful as possible. We are always striving to make it better.

From Signed Franchise Agreement to Opening

Once you sign the agreement, you go through a lot of onboarding, training, and education, which includes a week of training at headquarters in Omaha. We do everything we can to get your business open within 6 months. Depending upon your state, there may be licensing, and then you can start hiring caregivers and start getting out in the community to meet referral sources. You will also need to train your caregivers, using the tools, resources, and educational materials that are provided to you as a franchise owner.

Anticipated Growth

Margaret notes that Right at Home is actually ahead of targetted growth, stating that they continually measure themselves against their goals throughout the year. Margaret ended the conversation by saying that the great thing about a franchise concept is you can go into business for yourself but not in business by yourself. Right at Home separates themselves from other franchises by providing the support that we are going to surround you with.
