Description
The key strategies for a successful Right at Home franchise include having a clear mission, a strong brand identity, and consistent action toward your goals, states Albano Mahilaj, Right at Home franchise owner. Listen in as Albano talks with Jessica Cornelius, Franchise Development Director, about implementing Right at Home’s strategies and policies to generate business, leveraging the brand to build credibility and trust with prospects, and remembering the passion of why you are in this business.
Previous Background
Albano Mahilaj has owned his franchise for just about 8 months. He started the process of discovery about 1 year ago and now owns a Right at Home franchise on the northwest side of Cleveland, Ohio, serving the Rocky River area. He purchased the business because it had a purpose behind it and was economically profitable, When they were doing their research, they had several calls with corporate and other Right at Home owners, and the deciding factor was that the messages we received were always consistent. He states that it didn’t matter who you talked to, but if you asked the same questions, you would also get the same answers. Albano says his story is the #AmericanDream. He moved to the US 18 years ago. His first employer was the Cleveland Clinic Hospital System where he spent 5 years in different capacities, then worked for a financing supply chain, and owned a cleaning business. Albano notes that it helps if you have some health care background, but it’s not necessary. You have to have passion and do it for the right reasons. The tools for success are available.
A Typical Day
There is not a typical day, notes Albano. The biggest thing about being successful in this business is being able to adapt and change every single day. The way you want the day to go is to go into the office in the morning and make sure everyone is at the shifts that are scheduled. Then you can’t forget about selling. Someone around or you know needs your help. As a business owner, this is not an 8-4 job. You have to be on top of your business because if you’re not working on your business, nobody else is going to do it the way you do.
Most Valuable Support
Albano admits that the most valuable support is the strategies and policies in place that ensure that we’re doing everything the way we are supposed to generate business. There is a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). With Right at Home, it will work if you do what is told. Albano adds that it takes time, just like everything else. He also feels the brand itself is something you can’t take for granted. The brand has been around for 30-plus years, so that is a great conversation starter..
Advice to Prospective Franchisees
Albano likes to provide two pieces of advice. The first part is to “just do it”. It may sound too simple but just do it. You’re not going to know without taking the next step. And the next piece of advice would be to have a “why” in the back of your mind. If you remember the “why, and if you have a purpose, you will easily be successful in it.
